Environmental Assistant at the Construction Site – Paternò-Priolo Electric Pipeline

DESCRIPTION OF THE PROJECT

This contract includes all activities relating to the monitoring of environmental requirements at the construction site for the construction of the 380 kV overhead power line in a single backhoe loader Paternò – Priolo section Paternò – Pantano and for the new Pantano d’Arci Electricity Station.

The activities carried out by the IACA (Environmental Construction Site Assistant Officer) were:

• In-depth examination of environmental requirements at the destination construction site;
• Supervision of compliance with environmental compliance planning based on the planning of individual processes;
• Updating of environmental compliance planning during reviews of the general construction site planning;
• Support to the Director of Works for environmental aspects;
• Support for companies operating on the construction site, for issues that relate to current legislation and good environmental practice on the construction site;
• Drafting and archiving of “construction site documentation” of an environmental nature;
• Prompt reporting of any environmental critical issues encountered and proposal of a plan for their elimination;
• Verification of the implementation of the various construction site preparations envisaged in the Procurement Specifications (for example, installation of noise barriers, preparation of eco-boxes, specific measures for cutting vegetation, etc.);
• Presiding over the different measurement activities of Environmental Monitoring.

STUDY SPECIFICITY’

The control of construction site activities and requirements was for the following environmental sectors:

• Waste;
• Excavated earths and rocks;
• Dangerous substances and accidental spills;
• Meteor waters, ind. and reg.;
• Atmospheric emissions, dust and sediments;
• Ambient noise.
